Breastfeeding
It's not as easy as it looks. Really! Ask any anyone who has or is breastfeeding and I'm sure they have a few tales to tell.
But this is my page and I will let you in on my experiences ...so far.
Well for one, for the first 3 weeks your boobs hurt like hell. I'm one of these lucky ladies that started
hyperlactating when my milk came in four days after my son was born. My breast size went from grapefruits to honeydew melons! The blue veins in my chest looked like a map leading to Albuquerque.
Steve said "hey babe, your boobs are humongeous!" That's all he could do is look...no touching!
If he wanted a hug, a rain coat was necessary.
My breasts were heavy and full. It felt like someone had slipped bowling balls under my skin and I had this incredible weight to carry around along with a new baby.
It turns out I had a breast infection. The a few small ducts inside were blocked and it gave me flu like symptoms in addition to my heavy load. My doctor gave me a prescription and the community health nurse lent me a industrial strength breast pump. I began storing my breast milk as I was still expressing an additional 3 oz after I fed my son on one breast.
Soon after I began to find breastfeeding easier now I found that my milk flow was decreasing when I increased my activity. First too much, now not enough! So I started to research natural remedies to increase my milk and some other natural ways to aid colic and tension as well.
Now that I have breastfeeding under control; I have to deal with the outside worlds attitudes towards breastfeeding. Which I guess everyone is entitled to...... but hey keep your opinions to yourself bucko!
